    Alpaca Guitar Flax Fabric

It’s fairly common knowledge now that carbon fiber can make some really cool stuff. It’s waterproof, durable, and lightweight – a no-brainer for our guitar production process. But what might be less-known is the fact that there are many other non-synthetic fabrics out there that can perform as well, if not better in some instances. We’ve been using flax fabric set with a bio-derived resin to beef up the body of the guitar. Originally we had a layer of carbon fiber on the outside of the flax fabric, but we decided to experiment with letting the flax shine through and omitting the CF. As you can see from the photo, it’s a really cool look and it works really well! Our next experiment will be with hemp fabric. You might have heard that the Vermont house just passed an industrial hemp bill which will permit Vermont farmers to grow this amazing crop.

It’s all in an effort to get away from petroleum and push the envelope of creativity. Let’s build products that are better for the environment and better performing.
